Manage SIM status
What role/s can do this? Partner admin, Partner provisioning, Partner deployment of customers & Partner support.
Different SIM statuses control whether or not a SIM is available for use. When SIMs are ordered, they need to be made ACTIVE in order to remove any restrictions. The status can then be updated as needed.
SIM status options #
Status | Description |
---|---|
TEST_STATUS | (3Ireland SIMs only) SIMs that are live with no restriction. ACTIVE status is triggered automatically once 100KB of data is consumed. |
ACTIVATION_READY | SIMs that are available to be made active but currently have restrictions applied. |
ACTIVE | SIMs are live with no restrictions applied, meaning they can be used in IoT devices. |
DEACTIVATED | SIMs that are currently not being used and can be reactivated if needed. |
RETIRED | SIMs that have restrictions applied, meaning they are no longer available for use. |

- In the Action dropdown select Plan SIM status change
- Click Execute
- Using the Change status to dropdown, select the relevant status
- Select the relevant SIM card(s)
- Choose the date of the status change

Note: You can filter SIMs to generate a specific list of SIMs. You can then select some or all SIMs to perform actions on. |
Deactivating SIMs #
When you change the SIM status to Deactivated, the SIM’s IMEI status does not change. For example, if you have a SIM that is locked to an IMEI (device) and you change the SIM status to Deactivated, the IMEI status remains as Locked. It is recommended that you change the IMEI status back to Neutral for future use. For more information on SIM IMEI statuses, see SIM IMEI status change alarm overview.
Warning: The SIM status and SIM IMEI status are separate statuses which provide different information about the SIM. These statuses are not dependent on each other. |
