SIM order and assignment overview
SIMs need to be ordered and assigned to a Customer for them to use the SIMs in their IoT devices. We’ve outlined the recommended steps to achieve this in this article.
Note: This process assumes you have already created your customers. See Add a new Customer if required. |
Order SIMs #
First partner admins need to order SIMs via the FUSION IoT portal to be delivered to your partner delivery address, where they can then be distributed to your customers. Most SIMs are ordered in multiples of 50 and orders are usually processed within 3-5 working days.
SIMs can be ordered from the following operators:
- 3UK
- 3Ireland
- Orange
- A1 (Ordered in multiples of 20)
See Ordering SIMs.
Create Customer Services #
Whilst the SIM order is being processed, you can start creating the Customer Services that will be associated with a SIM when it is assigned to a Customer. A service is assigned to a SIM to control usage. For example, a service might allow for 10GB of data per month using a specific SIM with access to multiple networks over a minimum term.
Services are created by selecting a tariff and entering a service name. You can then select the service when assigning SIMs to a customer.
See Create and manage Customer services.
Migrate SIM to another Partner Service #
Once your order is processed and your SIMs are available in the portal, you will need to change the associated Holding Service to another Partner Service. This enables you to select a Partner Service with an appropriate tariff and ensure the SIM is able to become active.
See Migrate SIM to another Partner Service.
Warning: It is mandatory that you change the Holding Service to another Partner Service before you assign SIMs to your customers. This ensures that you are charged accurately using the Partner Service and SIMs can be activated. |
Assign SIMs to Customers #
SIMs are assigned to customers via the SIM overview area of the portal. When assigning SIMs you need to select the Customer Service which will be one of the services that has been created. Once a SIM and associated service have been assigned to a Customer, it will need to be activated so they can use it in their IoT devices.
See Assigning SIMs to Customers.
Activate SIMs #
The final step is to activate the SIMs to remove any bars which block data usage on the SIM. Once a SIM is active, customers should be able to insert it into their IoT devices and start monitoring SIM usage.
See Activating SIMs.
